Steven Credo – Administrative Assistant
Hello, my name is Steven. My family and friends call me Steve. Either Steve or Steven is fine with me.
I finished my bachelor’s degree in 2015 and tried my luck in the education industry. It wasn’t the best for me and I made mistakes along the way. However, I grew from that and I thank God every day for the new direction He gave me.
I was curious about starting a career in the BPO industry. A lot of people thought years ago that the BPO industry is not an ideal place to start. I didn’t think that one bit and my more than 5 years of experience proves it.
When I started out as a CSR in the BPO industry, my communication skills needed a lot of work. Thankfully with practice, training from my peers, and a lot of YouTube, I was able to learn that there was a lot more to the industry than just “knowing what to do”. First, it takes courage, sacrifice, and focus to keep the momentum going along with continuously climbing up the corporate ladder.
From the CSR role, I became a travel reservations agent that deals with different bookings and ensuring that pre-payment was settled for our guests. I moved into technical support after a while to expand my learning for inbound concerns for backend and tablet issues for the online ordering business.
Eventually, I was given the opportunity to work in Recruitment to engage new people in the different provinces in the Philippines. I focused on looking at the communication skills and overall disposition of each applicant to
see if they have the skills to further the business. But the right
culture is fit to propel the culture any organisation wants for itself. What the team member lacks in skills, we make up for it in training. My role in training is to teach each team member the basics of company systems & basic work etiquette. It felt great to return the favor to different people who helped me get to where I was.
A lot of this work made me a more effective team member. I continue to value integrity, being honest when no one else is around, and realising that when it comes to passion. We shouldn’t follow it around like a cloud, but we carry it along with me as a source of fuel.
