Shiela Buctot – Bookkeeping

Hello I am Shiela R. Buctot. I came from San Francisco, Agusan del Sur Philippines.

I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. I landed my first job as a bookkeeper last 2017 in a cooperative company. I worked there for almost 1 year where I was responsible for the preparation of the General journal and ledger.

My 2nd and recent job are in a construction company where I have been working for almost 4 years now as an accounting head. I process payroll on a weekly and quarterly basis. Some of my important roles as accounting head are to manage finances regarding the in and out of cash flow; I am also responsible for the project budgeting of the company, wherein I monitor expenses of a certain project and make sure to keep track of the day to day incurring expenses; It is also my primary role to file the monthly and quarterly taxes of the company and ensuring that we have reported accurate data to avoid any unwanted penalties, provide and organize data needed for the preparation of Annual Financial Report as well as the Annual Audit of the company; provide any necessary report whenever needed by the intended user; and the preparation of the general journal and ledger.

Aside from that, I am also a freelance bookkeeper for almost 3 years now for a Realty and Law firm. I prepare the general journal, file withholding compensation, monthly & quarterly VAT returns, withholding expanded, quarterly & annually ITR, and prepare financial statements.

During my years of experience in this field, I sharpened many skills that are directly relevant for bookkeeping & accounting roles. I have always been in love with mathematics and solving problems. What I love about this job is it allows me to express myself while leading the process of improvements. I see myself not just as a bookkeeper or accountant but a business partner who has an equal stake in whether the business is successful or not. One who provides and interprets financial data and its impact on the business. I also see myself as an educator who imparts knowledge on financial information whether to business unit heads or executive management. With the ever evolving business landscape, it is certainly a great time to be in this profession.
