Sheila Laban – Customer Service Representative, Sales

sheila-mae-laban-vaHi, my name is Sheila Mae Laban. I’m 37 years old, married with two adorable kids. Right now I am looking for a job that will give me a sense of purpose, a career growth, and an opportunity to help my husband in providing for our needs.

I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Management at the University of St. La Salle. Two months after graduation, I got a job as an airline ticket representative at Air Philippines. My responsibility was to handle reservation and issue tickets to customers. During my stay with Air Philippines, I also got a chance to be a check-in clerk where I handle passengers who are about to bound the plane. I had the chance to deal with different kinds of passengers who are mostly in a hurry. This taught me to be patient to complaints, to empathize and to be understanding with people’s need. I really enjoyed this job because I had the chance to meet people with different kinds of personalities.

After two years working with Air Philippines, I transferred to a more challenging job. I worked with BDO Universal Bank. My responsibility as a banker or as a client service associate was to handle clients’ financial needs. I processed their cash and withdrawal transactions, encashment of cheques, do currency exchange, send remittances, answers clients’ inquiries personally or through phone, cross sells bank new products and services and many more. This job also requires patience for often times we encounter irate clients. We used to listen to their complaints and provide solutions effectively and efficiently. We were trained on how to handle clients properly and with great respect. Working in one of the biggest and prestigious banks in the Philippines gave me the chance to learn and enhance not only my skills in customer service, but also to enjoy in working with my colleagues and the culture that we developed as a team.

sheila-mae-laban-vaIn 2018, I gave birth to my eldest son. During that time, my husband was working abroad so we there was no one to take care of our son. I decided to resign from my work and concentrate in raising our child. Now we already have two kids and are big enough to be left to someone if I am going back to work. If given a chance to be hired as a VA, it will be an advantage because I could work without living the house.

Even though I don’t have any experience in the BPO industry, I’m confident that my passion to serve and help clients, my determination to learn, diligence and dedication to work will enable me to meet the qualifications needed for any role that will be given to me.”
