Shareland Mangahas – General Virtual Assistant, Real Estate
My name is Shareland Mangahas, though my friends and colleagues often call me “Share.” If we get the chance to meet, please feel free to call me that, as I’m much more comfortable being addressed by my nickname. It helps create a more personal connection, which is something I value in both my personal and professional relationships.
I hold a degree in BS Psychology and had initially aspired to work in an HR department. However, after graduating, I quickly realised that I needed to be more flexible in my job search. As much as I wanted to pursue HR, I couldn’t afford to be overly selective at the time. I entered the workforce right away, and one of the most pivotal moments in my career was when I joined a BPO company. Working the graveyard shift while interacting with people from diverse backgrounds taught me essential work etiquette, communication skills, and leadership qualities that would later prove invaluable. After almost a decade in the BPO industry, I transitioned into the role of a virtual assistant. This change was partly motivated by the birth of my first son. Although I found my career fulfilling, I couldn’t bring myself to leave my son in someone else’s care for most of the day, missing out on his key milestones. Becoming a VA gave me the flexibility I needed to balance both work and family.
I was fortunate to connect with a client in the US, a broker, who initially hired me part-time. Over time, she saw the value I brought and asked me to move into a full-time role, which I was happy to accept. As her business expanded, she entrusted me with increasing responsibilities, including the hiring of additional virtual assistants. I still clearly remember her expressing a desire for me to find “more Share”—meaning VAs who shared the same dedication and attention to detail that I did. Over the years, I successfully added more VAs and helped her hire over 20 in total.
A decade later, I am a mother of three children. My oldest is now 13 and was diagnosed with ADHD. In August 2023, I decided to resign from my job to devote more time to him as he enters high school. My second and third children are toddlers who are also preparing to start school. I wanted to be present to help them with this transition and support their needs. Now that they have adjusted well to their new routines and environment, I feel ready to transition back to being a working mom. Honestly, I miss working; not only do I find fulfilment in having a regular job, but I also miss having a consistent income for myself.
Recently, I earned my license to sell life insurance, which I’m offering as a side business. Now that my children are all in school, I have more time available and am looking for a part-time job. I miss the regular work routine and a steady income. I am hopeful that through the Virtual Assistant Team, I can find a client to support in growing their business while also helping me achieve my goals.
