Richie Donato – Administrative Assistant, Accounting
I am Richie Ursos Donato, 24 years old, the eldest son and breadwinner of my family. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Technology from Ateneo de Davao University and currently taking my Master’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Southeastern Philippines. I pursued studying for my master’s degree to gain more knowledge and prepare for the critical thinking abilities needed by companies. I had been an accounting clerk in an automotive company for more than two meaningful years and as a management accountant assistant in an oil and lubricant corporation for almost a year.
As an accounting clerk, I have emerged into two major tasks, accounts payable and receivable. Accounts Payable tasks involved preparing necessary documents before payment, monitoring the aging of the schedule, and monitoring that all purchase orders are closed and adequately documented. Accounts Receivable tasks involve posting cash receipts in the system, preparing AR aging, and making follow-ups to customers and banks. Other accounting-related functions I also perform are bank reconciliation, depreciation of fixed assets, amortization of prepaid assets, reviewing trial balance, year-end inventory count, and other necessary adjusting entries. These various tasks made me an expert on the company’s process and valued the effect of each transaction input in the system.
As a Management Accountant’s assistant, I am still involved in general accounting, but now more focused on invoicing and billing, costing, pricing, and inventory. I was a team leader in invoicing. I ensure that my team follows the company protocols concerning invoicing. I am keen on checking all the necessary documents before the placement of the sales order. We ensure that purchase orders and customer confirmation order forms are appropriately checked. With regards to costing and pricing, I collate all the related costs from our imported goods, from customs charges up to the clearing and forwarding charges. It is vital to properly account for the costs incurred to have an accurate inventory value. This cost will be the basis for the pricing of our products. Inventory is one of the challenging tasks as it involved critical analyses. I am involved in the monthly inventory count, reports on the variances, and its aging and damage report.
I am proficient in ERAnet System and Microsoft Dynamics Navision 2013 and have short experience in QuickBooks in my years of working. These systems were learned because of the company’s training and my perseverance to know and understand it.
I am a teachable person, willing to learn, and can quickly adapt to changes. I have a strong belief that everything can be understood as long you have the determination to do it. Also, I am recognized by my company twice as an employee who adheres to company policies, standards, and procedures.
