Richel Silmaro – Customer Service Representative, ESL
Hello there.
My name is Richel. An individual with great ability in communicating and developing a relationship with clients, in general. I possess a strong dynamic, diligent, reliable and detailed oriented personality.
Before diving into the work of a virtual assistant, I’m a teacher by profession. I worked as a teacher locally and abroad for the total of 8 years. My experience as a teacher taught me a lot of things. It helped me to upskill, grow professionally and personally. My job did not only shape me to become an effective teacher but also to be flexible in every situation. It also taught me to multitask so I can easily do the job productively and efficiently. Some of the tasks that I performed were compiling and entering students’ information in the system, responding and creating emails, organising events in the class and some other administrative work. It was challenging yet fulfilling knowing that you were able to finish the job on time, and at the same time, able to acquire new skills in doing those things that can be useful in another field of work.
I’m the kind of person who wants to explore and go beyond my boundaries. So, I tried to apply in a BPO company as a customer service representative for phone and email support. At first, it was not that easy for me since I’m used to a 9 to 5 work setup, and in the call center industry schedules are mostly graveyard. Working in this industry trained me to be an effective listener, to have problem solving skills, persuasion skills and a lot more. My job responsibilities were answering customers’ inquiries, giving instructions in creating courses, assignment and basic trouble shooting, processing returns, refunds and cancellation and assisting customers with website navigation.
Aside from the jobs I had before, I am also passionate about social media management. For this reason, I joined an ongoing course for social media management for me to gain more knowledge in this field. I also spend my free time watching tutorials on Youtube, Facebook and other platforms. I have a personal page where I applied what I’ve learned from the tutorials. With everything that I have learned, I can say that my page is growing and I am able reach my target audience.
As what Albert Einstein quoted “The only source of knowledge is experience.” I see self-improvement as a life-long journey, so I always try to expand skill sets through hands-on experience. I am so grateful for my jobs and the people whom I worked with before. Because of their contribution, I was able to fulfill my dreams one by one. I believe that success is just around the corner. And I always keep telling myself to persevere and never give up.
I hope you enjoy reading my short story and I’d love to discuss how we could successfully work together and help you grow your business. I’m available to work 30-40 hrs/week.
