Recelle Perez – Customer Service Representative
Because I started working at the age of 20, I never envisioned myself being unemployed at the age of 42.
I was fortunate enough to work for the Philippines’ major telecommunications business. I’ve never had to submit employment proposals, go through job interviews, or face employer rejections.
My first day at work, I remembered, was the day before my graduation.
Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. gives the best salary and benefits. I loved my work in the corporate world since it also provided my family with a comfortable lifestyle.
My first job was working as a telephone operator. I improved my telecommunications skills and received training to deliver superior customer service. I worked in this department for seven years.
My request for a transfer to another department faced heavy competition. I wanted to grow in my career, so I went through many panel interviews and eventually got a job as a plant clerk.
This introduced me to a variety of administrative activities involving plant staff, such as timekeeping, plant supply and material requisition, and cooperation with other departments.
After a year, I was promoted as Customer Service Representative in the Business Office Department. I was in charge of processing various requests and inquiries, walk-in client complaints, and cashiering. Expected to perform task at no backlog. Complied with a customer satisfaction rating of 90%, which is an above average gauge on the employee’s performance. My assignment lasted for a year.
From 2003 to 2017, I worked in the Sales Department for fourteen years. I was the driving force behind the creation of a new department, and I exceeded my sales targets by more than 100 percent.
I was certain that I would stay with this company till I retired.
However, in life, your plans may not be realized because God has different plans for me.
After twenty-two years of employment, I chose to take avail of the company’s early retirement program in 2017.
My sister encouraged me to seize this opportunity and suggested that I work for them in New York, USA. To cut a long tale short, I accepted, despite the fact that I love my job.
The working visa application is still being processed, and the process has been hampered by the pandemic.
I was perplexed as to why it had happened to me. I told myself that I had another purpose in life. I didn’t allow my frustration get the best of me.
Following my retirement, I was able to pursue my true passion, which is acting.
In the Philippines, I was given the opportunity to be a part of an independent film. The movie was “Hapi ang Buhay,” which means “Happy Life.”
I was able to create Shopee and Lazada e-Commerce accounts (same as Amazon).
In 2018, I returned to the United States where I assisted my sister in her laundromat business.
I went from being a corporate employee to working as a laundry woman and feeling really degraded.
I was bored when I returned home. I’d like to help my husband in our financial goals. I’m not used to staying at home and earn nothing.
After that, I came across internet jobs. I realized how much money I could make even if I stayed at home.
Finding a client is not as easy as you think but this job teaches you humility.
Right now, I’d like to hone my talents in scriptwriting, video and audio editing, and even e-commerce as an Amazon Virtual Assistant.
With my skills, I want to find a client for whom I can provide the best solution for his business.
