Radia Kamad – Administrative Assistant
Hey there! I am Radia, my friends call me with my name, Radia, but some people find it hard to pronounce so they prefer to call me Rad. Hear me because this is my story!
I’m a Bachelor’s degree holder in Secondary Education. I acquired my license in secondary school teaching a year after my graduation in college. I live with my mother who is a single parent because my father died even before I had my first birthday. My mother can’t afford to send me to college so I have to support myself just to finish my studies. In my college years, I worked as a food chain crew, grocery attendant, home cleaner and a nanny to earn for my daily expenses and for my education. My experience working with these tasks pushed me to become more resourceful, persevering, and diligent.
After earning my degree and license, I landed a job as a personal assistant to the President of a non-profit non-government organization for two years. Here, my responsibility was to assist my client with his daily tasks, both in business matters and in his family or personal errands. Working as a personal assistant helped me develop my skills in time management, scheduling, email management, calendar management, keen to details, well-ordered errand management, among others.
I secured my post as a public secondary school teacher in Cotabato City National High School after my contract as a personal assistant ended. At first, my task was mostly classroom management. Eventually, my tasks as a teacher were not limited to the four corners of the room but instead, I was designated as one of the school administrative staff. As an administrative staff, my function was more on school management and supervision. I am one of the focal persons who assist the school principal with her day-to-day managerial and supervisory tasks. Along with the management and supervision, the principal assigned to me the regular communication of the school with its stakeholders; the in and out mails, memos, requests, etc. I was also designated as a Guidance Coordinator wherein it focuses on customer services; dealing with issues and problems of the students. With these tasks, I mastered different tools like MS Office and Google Workspace.
Now, I am fascinated with freelancing. Although I am still newbie in this industry, with all my experiences, I learned that there nothing could truly hinder you with what you want to do in life. As long as you are committed to learn and willing to develop your skills, you can always find your place and bring out the best in you. What’s more important is your determination, dedication, and passion along with your skillsets, success is along your way.
