Philippe Joshua Evardo – Administrative Officer
I am a skilled Administrative Officer with more than three years of experience supporting operational and administrative functions. The majority of my work experience involves performing duties related to data entry and management, organising company records, invoicing and customer service. Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. I have a strong theoretical background in marketing and strategic research and analysis that I want to apply and build my skills upon as an aspiring freelancer.
I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree Major in Environmental Science and Minor in Business Management at the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines. I took an interest and pursued the Environmental Science course as I find it important to protect the environment and human health as well. As an interdisciplinary study, the course not only involved learning about the natural sciences but also understanding human interactions with the environment and how it all intertwines. Taking up environmental science has made me versed in scientific procedures, which has translated to me developing and honing my research and analysis skills. It has also given me the opportunity to build up my communication skills as I had to interact with different stakeholders when I went on studies in the field.
A few years into the course, I began to understand how development – in terms of businesses and industries – impacts the environment. It was important for me to be able to close the gap in terms of my knowledge of business management, which led me to take up a minor course in the subject. I found a passion for learning about how to manage businesses and grew an interest in marketing and operations. I eventually decided to pursue this track further, and at present, I am finishing up my Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
In regards to my work experience, I was able to be employed in both public and private organisations. After graduating, I took a job at a government agency that was the national authority in the Philippines that oversees the compliance of industries with environmental laws and standards. Following that, I worked as a research associate for a “green”/sustainability-minded architectural firm, before eventually working as an administrative officer, since that was where my abilities and skills gravitated to.
My work experience has molded me to be adaptable and to be willing to continually improve on myself and my skills so that I can provide effective and efficient solutions to make the business run smoother and easier. It has also made me be more resourceful and helped me to have the ability to work around a problem given the constraints and uncertainties. In addition, my work experiences have made me cognizant of the fact that to be able to contribute well to the business involves working well together with the team and adding value in terms of your strengths and asking for help or advice as regards to weaknesses.
In terms of my technical skills, I am familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and the complete Google Suite including, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Calendar. I also know how to work with Dropbox, Trello, Evernote, Skype, and Zoom, and I can do basic graphic design using Canva. I am currently taking up basic courses on SEO, social media marketing, keyword research, and Google Ads, and I am eager to learn and use other tools as needed.
As for my hobbies outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, reading, going to the beach, and traveling and exploring different places and cultures, and trying out their food and activities.
