Mohammad Ahsan – Professional Cost and Management Accountant
I am a Professional Cost and Management Accountant certified by the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh. The Institute has the membership of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), and the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).
I have also completed my Bachelor of Commerce and Masters of Commerce in Accounting.
I have started the journey of my life in a very miserable condition. I lost my father in my childhood when I was only four years old. Then my elder brother was a student of Class Ten. We are seven siblings. So to maintain such a big family he had to drop his studies. I have started my primary education at a local Government Primary School.
After completion of Primary education, I have started my secondary education at a local community private School and faced serious financial stringency to continue my study. However, in this crucial position, I have completed my Secondary School Certificate Examination. Then I started my Higher Secondary education at a Government College. At this stage, I have started to take part in our small family business (a hardware shop) in our local area run by my elder brother alongside my studies.
In that situation, I always kept some reading materials with me at the shop to take advantage of my study whenever I got a chance to read. I faced serious trouble at the time of examinations because I had to struggle to arrange a time for my study for the exams. It demands extra and excess time to study. However, I have completed my Higher Secondary Certificate Examination.
Then I started my Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and continued to work with my elder brother at our shop and continued to struggle and achieved the Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting on due course. I have cherished my dream of being a Professional Accountant before completing my Bachelor’s Degree.
After completing my Bachelor’s Degree I got admitted to Master of Commerce in Accounting and also got admitted at the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), the only Cost and Management Accountants certification institution in the country. But at that moment I was not able to manage enough time to continue my professional study successfully due to my Master of Commerce study and my shop duty. However, I have completed my Master of Commerce in due course.
After achieving a Master of Commerce Degree, I started my Professional Career at Azim Group, a Garments Manufacturing and Exporting business conglomerate, as a Senior Supervisor Accounts. Then I have started a new struggle to achieve my Professional Degree along with professional experience. I was very punctual as well as sincere in my duties. That’s why I was able to achieve the confidence of my superiors and the management. As the company was a private sector organization, nobody could leave the office before 7.00 P.M though office time was 9.00 A.M to 5.30 P.M because all the senior management guys stayed at office till 7.00 P.M and above. But I left the office just after office time to attend my ICMAB classes in the evening. I did Group Study with my friends during holidays and whenever I got a chance and continued my professional study and professional work and gradually completed the professional course part by part and promoted to Executive Accounts, Senior Executive Accounts and then Assistant Manager (Accounts and Finance) and In-Charge Accounts Department. Finally, I have achieved my Cost and Management (CMA) degree in the year 2003 and became an Associate Cost and Management Accountant (ACMA) in the year 2004. Then I joined KDS Garments Industries Ltd., another big business conglomerate in Chattogram, Bangladesh as a Manager (Costing).
In 2008, I joined Salim & Brothers Limited, another big business conglomerate in Chattogram as the Controller (Finance & Accounts) and served the company for 8 years till 2016. I have achieved my Fellow Membership that is Fellow Cost and Management Accountant (FCMA) in the year 2009. After that, I worked as Head of Finance and Accounts of another 3 companies. I then started the career of consultancy and served as a Consultant of AUDIICOST, Cost and Management Accountants, and now working with Bismillah Logistics, a big logistics Group of Companies in Chattogram.
I always took on the challenges of new tasks and assignments throughout my professional career and tried to capitalize on new experiences whenever I got the chance. I have done all the Finance and Accounts Departments activities practically from a junior position to the Head of the Department which made me confident to take the responsibility of any assignment of this Department.
So, I hope I will be able to add value to your team and will try my level best to perform my duties and responsibilities to be assigned from your end.
