Merry Grace Pacalioga – Social Media Content Moderator
Hi, I am Merry Grace Pacalioga, you can call me Merry for short. I am a wife and mother of a very handsome son. I graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management at the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue. A few years back, I would not have thought of myself as working from home, but because of the pandemic, I experienced working from home as a social media Content Moderator. I never knew this setup could be so fulfilling, stress-free, and enjoyable and most of all I saved a lot of money.
I started working as a production worker assembling Japan Cars stereo’s at Muramoto Audio Visual Phils. in Mactan Economic Processing Zone for 5 years and 1 month without late, tardiness and absences (thanks to perfect attendance bonus which serves as my motivation to work hard everyday).
I resigned because I pursued my dream of graduating college and having a degree. But being an independent woman without savings while studying college is not that so easy. That is why I applied as an office staff dealing with paperwork, audits, entertaining customers who wanted to get inside the zone, and giving access passes to those Locators and Non-Locators employees and businesses at MEPZ Employees Multipurpose Cooperative, I’ve been in the company for 1 year and 1 month but unluckily pandemic strikes and I became jobless. Still, I went to college and availed Study Now Pay Later Program of school. While studying online, I also applied for a job online since BPOs are hiring work-from-home set-ups. I was hired at Alorica Phils. as a Content Moderator, we moderate social media contents that are not appropriate for all audiences at all ages. Lastly, I applied as an ESL Teacher at PalFish teaching Asian students for one year.
I have the courage to apply as a Virtual Assistant because I really wanted to help my partner with our daily expenses since his salary as a Security Guard Officer is not enough to sustain our daily needs.
Being a Virtual Assistant is fulfilling yet flexible, especially for those Mamas like me. I can spend time and fulfil the duties and responsibilities for my family and as a mom for my son while working at home.
Working at home is very different from being at an office, it is very convenient, a money saver and working at home means more family bonding and it is the best for me.
