Mercia Lopez – Virtual Assistant, Customer Support

My name is Mercia Lopez, a 37-year-old mom of two awesome girls. Starting my VA journey, this new chapter fills me with a sense of excitement and determination as I transition from my previous role to being a virtual assistant.

For over a decade, I worked in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). I started as a Customer Service Rep, spent five years at it, and then climbed up the ladder to a leadership role. It was a fast-paced world, full of learning and making friends. I put my all into my work, getting really good at it while having a blast with my coworkers, who I now consider as lifelong friends.

My experience in the BPO taught me a lot of things. Overall, my experience helped me develop strong communication skills, organisational abilities, and problem-solving capabilities. I know deep down that my skills and experience can contribute positively wherever I go. Whether it’s providing top-notch customer service or efficiently managing tasks as a virtual assistant, I bring dedication and a positive attitude to the table. My previous job taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of teamwork—all qualities that I’m eager to put to good use in whatever opportunities come my way.

Last 2022, when I found out I was expecting. It was a mix of excitement and apprehension. But as my pregnancy continued, I was advised by my OB GYN to be on bed rest. The demands of my job in the BPO industry were becoming too much to handle alongside the challenges of pregnancy. It was a difficult decision, but ultimately, I knew I had to prioritise my health and the well-being of my growing family. So, with a heavy heart, I made the choice to resign from my job.

At first, leaving my job felt like stepping into the unknown. But as they say, every cloud has a silver lining. After giving birth, I began to explore new possibilities. Working from home gave me a chance to continue contributing to my family’s income while also being there for them. That’s when I stumbled upon the role of a virtual assistant, specifically in property management. It was like finding the missing puzzle piece. Suddenly, I could balance my professional responsibilities with the joys of motherhood, especially with my little one needing extra care and attention. Working from home not only provided financially but also allowed me to create precious memories with my loved ones that I’ll cherish forever. Being a mom and a part-time VA has its challenges, but it’s also super rewarding. I’ve learned to put what really matters first and enjoy every moment with my family.

I’m still looking for other opportunities, and I’m excited about what’s next. I know if I keep working hard, good things will come my way. Life doesn’t always go as planned, but I’m okay with that. It’s the surprises that make it interesting! From my days in the BPO world to being a part-time VA, each part of my story has made me who I am today. I carry with me the experience and a strong foundation in customer service and leadership. Now, as I step into the world of virtual assistance, I am eager to apply my skills, where I can continue to make a positive impact while also prioritizing the well-being of my family. As I start this journey, embracing challenges and seizing opportunities along the way. And for that, I’m grateful. Here’s to the future, full of new adventures and chances to grow.

As I continue to search for new opportunities, I’m filled with anticipation about what lies ahead. I firmly believe that with perseverance and dedication, success is inevitable. While life may not always unfold according to our plans, I’ve come to accept and even embrace the unpredictability of it all. It’s these unexpected twists and turns that add flavour to the journey, making it an exciting adventure.

My journey from the BPO industry to my current role as a part-time VA, I’m reminded of the valuable lessons and experiences that have shaped me. Each phase has contributed to my growth, equipping me with a wealth of expertise in customer service and leadership. As I embark on this new chapter in the realm of virtual assistance, I’m eager to leverage my skills to make a positive impact while ensuring the well-being of my family remains a top priority.

Cheers to life, love, and all the good stuff yet to come!
