Mary Ann Joy Villareal – Executive Virtual Assistant/Recruiter

My name is Mary Ann Joy Bernardo Villareal, you can call me Mary, others call me Joy. I am 28 years old, married with 2 kids. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2017 at the University of Caloocan City. I got my first job right away in Makati City as a Recruitment Associate in the food and beverage industry. Since I was a fresh graduate at that time, my thinking was to go out of my comfort zone. I was traveling for 3 hours just to get to the office, and went home for another 3 hours. This was my routine for almost 2 years.

Until my husband and I decided to permanently stay in our house at Caloocan with my kids, which made me land a new opportunity as a Preboarding Specialist and a Talent Management Senior Associate. I catered to US clients and work with the Healthcare and IT Industry. When the pandemic came, I was allowed to work remotely.

Since I was able to work at home, a new opportunity for me opened up as a Virtual/Executive Assistant and a Recruiter for different clients in the US and UK, which built my career stronger in the field of the Recruitment Industry. Building experiences and trust from clients, I came across the Accounting, Logistics and Dentistry industry. This helps me to get a new work environment and adapt a culture from the team.

Working as an Independent Contractor or freelancer taught me a lot. From learning things on my own, adapting to a fast-paced environment, working with the team and being diligent in meeting the expectations of the client, make me feel fulfilled as a Virtual Assistant.

Over the years of my experience as a Recruiter for almost 7 years, I was able to gain the knowledge and strategies on how to recruit star candidates for every position. And since I have 2 kids already studying at school, working from home really helps me to still have time with them while I am working to help my husband provide for our needs. I can attest that it really improves my mental health as I don’t need anymore to travel for how many hours for work.
