Marvin Amorsolo – Customer Service Representative, Graphic Artist

Hello! I am Marvin Amorsolo, I was born on April 26, 1994. I am the youngest of 3 siblings. I love playing video games, and doing water activities like kite surfing, basic wakeboarding, and spearfishing during the day and sometimes at night, and when I feel so much stress, I go straight freediving, I’m not a pro though, it helps me relax and make sound decisions. I paint and do charcoal portraits, and I have been a tattoo artist for a year and it helps me pay my bills. Now, I am learning animation because I have always wanted to become an animator or a voice actor.

I graduated with a degree in Business Administration majoring in Marketing Management from the Kolehiyo ng Pantukan, a local college in Pantukan, Davao de Oro, in 2020. We didn’t have a graduation ceremony back then because of the pandemic. While waiting for everything to get back to normal, I applied for a call centre job in Davao City. I was hired as a customer service representative of a BPO company that handled Amazon accounts. I never thought of working in that industry because I was not confident enough to have a conversation using a foreign language and I might mess things up, but you’ll never know unless you try right? I worked there for a year and gained a lot of new experiences, especially regarding e-commerce.

Now I am back in my hometown. I am working as a freelance graphic artist and an assistant manager at my aunt’s grocery store at the same time. Though the pay is good, I still need a better income. I tried to apply as a fire officer but got rejected. I didn’t lose hope and tried again but still didn’t make it to the next step of the application. I wanted to continue but there’s an age limit, so I tried to apply to other government agencies but unfortunately still did not make it.

My girlfriend is a VA, she earns a decent amount of money without having to go out for work. I wanted to try my luck in this industry. I don’t have any experience being a virtual assistant yet, but I hope I will be given a chance to become one. I am confident in my skills to complete all tasks assigned on time efficiently and effectively. I have my computer and a stable internet connection and it will not be hard for me to work on a graveyard shift because of my prior experience as a call centre agent.

This field may be new to me but I know everything can be learned with proper training and a good attitude towards work. I aim to grow further with my career, experience more things, learn more, and expand my knowledge for a better me because I don’t want to be stuck in this situation.
