Maharia Tuason – Customer Service Representative
I am a customer service professional with over 10 years of experience. And I believe in the saying: “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”
I started my career in the BPO industry in early 2008 where I worked as a customer service representative for a well-known US automotive brand. This is where I first learned the art of customer service and was able to speak and sound like a native American since the company I was working for is very strict with accents, grammar, and customer satisfaction. I stayed there for 4 years.
In 2012, I tried a different career in the BPO industry and worked as an inbound sales representative for a US satellite TV company. I also enjoyed working in sales since my role is a mix of customer service plus upselling. I was a top performer during the day and was able to get commissions for every payout.
It didn’t stop there. I also jumped into tech support where I handled both residential and business accounts for a well-known US telco company where I troubleshoot every service the company offers: phone, tv, internet, emails, IP addresses – you name it. It is so far the most challenging role, but the challenge is something that excites me. With my hard work and passion for what I do, I was promoted as an escalation desk representative by the client. As an escalation desk representative, I have the most difficult and challenging role – I deal with client escalations, handled supervisor calls and repeat customers, and turning dissatisfied customers into very satisfied ones.
I left the BPO industry in early 2020 when I got pregnant with my first child. The pandemic also started spreading here in the Philippines, so I had no choice but to stay at home for the safety of my unborn child.
But staying at home didn’t stop me from doing what I love to do. After giving birth, I worked for two e-commerce companies as email support and a social media assistant. I was able to use all of the skills I have acquired during my years in BPO and was able to work remotely with minimum supervision. I was able to get high ratings after working with this client.
