Leandro Austin David – Operation Assistant

Hi, I’m Leandro Austin L. David, you can call me Lean. I took up Operations Management at the University of the Assumption in Pampanga. To be honest, I never expected to work in Manila since I grew up in the province. In quite some time, an opportunity came for me to be employed by one of the largest Banks in the Philippines, China Banking Corporation. At first, I was hesitant to get the offer since I’ll be working in Manila. I am not familiar with the place and my biggest fear is to get lost, but I decided to face my fears in an unknown environment. Thankfully, I easily adjusted to the surroundings and the people. I have worked comfortably for 11 years as a Senior Branch Operations Assistant performing Loan transactions.

I started working at Chinabank in 2013, my initial position was as a Clearing Assistant. I performed processing of other banks local checks for outward processing to be transmitted to the Philippine Clearing House Corporation for dissemination to the issuing Bank. I handled this position for 8 months. Then my manager asked me if I wanted to handle loan transactions since the personnel in-charge at that time was having a hard time accomplishing the different tasks that were assigned to him. Since I’m new to the organization I said yes. My colleagues were a bit shocked and asked me why I accepted the position since they all know that processing of loan transactions is one of the hardest jobs in the bank. But I said I’m up for the challenge.

To be honest, I found it difficult to the point that I wanted to resign but I promised myself that I’ll keep pushing, if others can do it why can’t I. So, I decided to stay with the organization performing various tasks every day, but I enjoyed learning on how to handle or process these kinds of transactions.

I’m grateful to my former employer since it made me who I am today. All the experiences and knowledge that they were able to provide me. I’ll be forever grateful to China Banking Corporation.

Now it’s time to look for another employer where I’ll be able to share my 11 years of working experience and hopefully can contribute to the organization’s success.

To be honest, there will be some challenges but one thing I learned is that every day is a learning process.
