Keeshia Nicole Mangaporo – Chemical Engineering

Hi! I am Keeshia Nicole V. Mangaporo, a fifth-year Chemical Engineering student from the University of Santo Tomas. I am a daughter of an OFW and I grew up with my grandparents all my life. My grandfather was a big influence as to why I aspired to be an engineer at such a young age, so when it was time to pick a course for college, I didn’t hesitate to choose chemical engineering. Another thing that solidified my decision was the title and the compensation that comes with it. I grew up in a family where money wasn’t always easy to have, which is why I want to make sure that once I graduate I’ll be able to help them. I’ve had my fair share of worries while pursuing this path but I am very determined to see it through. The ups and downs had me rethinking if this was actually meant for me but I believe that nothing worth having comes easy.

I only have 2 terms remaining and for this term, I am only taking up 3 units which is why I decided to find something more productive to spend my time on. Last month, I spent my time being an intern on a government project in DOST. I had a lot of realisations there and they were able to help me adapt to a real working environment. The people in that agency helped me learn a lot about myself not only as a student but as an actual working individual. They gave me tasks that helped me develop my confidence and skills to do them on my own. They also showed me how asking is the best way to learn. I was able to develop a bond with them that I will treasure always. My stay in the organisation helped me build my confidence back up.

Since I have a lot of downtime now, I wanted to improve my skills more in the real world while also earning money to help with my financial obligations in terms of allowance, and university payments. I am here humbly asking you to hire me. Rest assured that my studies won’t get in the way of my commitment to you. I may not have actual experience but I can say that all my life I’ve been responsible with every commitment that I went through. I hope you can feel my determination and willingness to work with you. Thank you very much.
