Kasandra Guy – Legal Assistant, Customer Service Representative
Hello, I am Kasandra Guy, better known as Kassy. I am from the tropical country of Belize with vibrant colours just as my personality. I birthed 2 beautiful children, – a boy Kason, twelve, the oldest and oh so calm. Kaylee, six, our little tornado. I graduated with a degree in Tourism Management from the University of Sacred Heart here in Belize. I’m such a people person, I enjoy waking up and going to work. If I hadn’t lost my job in 2020, I would have never become the great freelancer I am today. One day I sat down and asked myself “How can I provide the service I do at work from home?” providing customer service and skills in the comfort of my home! I build my home office and my dreams. I had a lot of free time to attend to school activities and I didn’t need to put on heels each morning.
I started my journey as a server in a very cultural and well known resort, where I gained my customer service skills. From a young age I knew assisting others was something I enjoy and love to do. Being around peers and a part of a team improves my social interaction and self-esteem. There after I move on to become the face of the resort, becoming the guest specialist. I communicate with a guest through email and phone, booking all guest day to day activities. Meet and greet was my personal favourite, as I always hear the words ” Oh we finally meeting the lovely Kassy that we were speaking to over the phone or emails” I poured my all into my career because I loved everything about it. In 2019 I won the Belize Tourism Award and was gifted a round trip to Chicago.
I thought working from home was going to be difficult because I enjoy face-to-face and being at the office. My first work-from-home opportunity was a customer service for a Water Park Company in New York City. I was providing the same customer service I would do from the office. Booking hotel reservations and tickets to the water park. A few months into the company I became a team leader assisting new agents. Becoming a virtual leader was the most difficult. Being responsible for others, gaining their trust and making sure their task is complete was a challenge. With communication and providing feedback in a timely manner helped me to become the leader I am today. The same attitude and consistency I would provide to the clients I provide to my peers and teammates.
A much greater opportunity came along and I became a Legal Assistant. I handle all incoming and outgoing calls coming into the company firm. I filter new potential clients and screen them see to see if they are a good fit for the firm. Draft court documents and upload them to the court system. Prepare the attorney’s defence for court and follow up with clients. I manage the attorney calendar and day-to-day activity. All client communication is documented in MyCase and Asana.
Being a part of the team I can portray my skills and learn new skills, to become a great assistant.
