June Britney Dato – Virtual Medical Receptionist

Hi, I am June Britney Dato and I prefer to be called Britney. I studied Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English at General Santos Foundation College, Inc. After I graduated year 2022, I transitioned from being an English teacher to a virtual medical receptionist. Perhaps you are wondering why I did not pursue teaching, the thing is there will be a point in our lives where our priorities and preferences change.

To become a virtual medical receptionist, I applied to a BPO company in our city and luckily I got hired without experience and went to rigorous training. If you ask me what the hardest phase was as a virtual medical receptionist, I have to admit it was the training. When we are a beginner at something it will be always difficult. My trainer would always reprimand me because I was so slow navigating a computer as I was not tech-savvy back then. I was about to give up but then I thought how will I be good at something if I stop doing it? so I continued and passed the training. I am so proud that I stood up regardless of a lot of criticism I received.

Although I chose not to pursue teaching, I still took the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers. I did not enroll myself to a review center since I don’t have enough savings at that time and I was too shy to ask money from my parents. So what I did is I self studied during night time and work during day time. I use free resources that I can access such as youtube and google. After all the sleepless nights I was able to pass the board exam.

The previous company that I was working with was so kind, helpful and thoughtful. I am so thankful to the management and colleagues who became my acquaintances and friends as they helped me hone my skills and gave me the chance to work even without experience. I am forever grateful.

Recently, I decided to pursue work-from-home jobs as I want to spend more time with my family and have a work-life balance. Aside from that, I want to learn more skills and experiences. I believe the best thing you can do for yourself is to improve in as many ways as possible.
