Joyce Ramos – Administrative Assistant, Data Analyst, Lead Generation
Hi, My name is Joyce Ramos, I am the eldest among the 4 siblings. We were all raised by a strong single mother. My mother raised us so wonderfully and taught us to accept our father’s passing and be thankful even for the tiniest blessing that we have. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting Technology in one of the state universities here in Pampanga, Philippines. Working from home was not really one of my plans, but since the pandemic, I tried applying as a VA and I never thought that I would enjoy it.
I landed my first job in the corporate world as an Accounts Receivable clerk handling the invoices, billings, reports, and office supplies for the company. When the pandemic came, I decided to try working from home. It was not easy at first since I don’t have any experience as VA. But I started taking courses on how to become a virtual assistant and watched some Youtube videos to gain some knowledge.
I tried applying as a remote worker but it wasn’t easy since I don’t have any skills and experience and I was at the point where I questioned my abilities and doubted myself. But that didn’t last long, it didn’t stop me from pursuing the career I chose. It’s ok to take some rest when you feel tired but never give up on your dream. After a lot of hard work and failures, I finally got my job as a lead generation where I search based on the client’s criteria. After a month, a better opportunity came along the way. I was given the opportunity to work as a Real Estate VA, where I do skip-tracing, researching, creating different lists for campaigns, handling training, and managing a few people.
Having the determination, eagerness to learn, and attention to detail is what makes me an exceptional VA. Because I believe that skills can be taught but having determination and eagerness cannot. As they say, it’s not about skill, it’s about will.
In this path I chose, I know that there is still a lot to learn and it will not be an easy route. It may contain bumpy roads but I know that these will help me to be better in both my professional and personal life.
