Joy Sadie – General Virtual Assistant
My name is Joy Sadie. I am a stay-at-home mom with a 2-year-old son. I took up Electronics and Communications Engineering at the University of the East here in the Philippines, but I had to stop after 3 years because my family had money problems.
My first job was holding an umbrella for golf players. It was just a part-time job so I could earn some money while looking for a real job. It’s not easy to find a good job in the Philippines if you didn’t finish university and have no experience.
In 2011, I was hired by IBM. My real-world journey started. I learned that working is not all about earning money but also about learning new skills and valuing work ethics. I enjoyed being a customer service support associate because I love helping people. I also enjoy being a sales representative because it feels very fulfilling every time I close a sale.
My starting salary was very low since I didn’t finish university. I thought it would get better over time, but it was still not enough for my family. So I started looking for better opportunities where I can grow, as well as earn more money.
In 2016, I was able to find a direct client who was willing to train me how to source profitable products from Amazon. This was very different from customer service, but I was happy to learn new skills and make more money.
In 2017, I went to work in a factory in Japan for 3 years. When I came back to the Philippines in 2020, I went back to sourcing Amazon products. I also got pregnant. When my pregnancy became sensitive, I had to stop working and focus on my health. I gave birth at 7 months but I’m happy because my baby is strong and we were able to survive it.
I started looking for work after I recovered from my CS operation. Fortunately, I was able to find a direct client in 2021 and I worked for him as an executive virtual assistant. At first, I only do data entry and research tasks for him. When he saw my potential, he asked me to write blogs and contents for his websites. Our contract just ended last month. It was a happy experience because I had a good working relationship with my client and I learned a lot from him. It was also very convenient for me because as a mother, having a flexible working schedule is a blessing. Now I am looking for a new job where I can use all my different skills. I want to keep growing my career and learning more to improve myself at work and in life.
I am confident that I can be one of the best virtual assistants that can do office and administrative tasks, writing, and also help with personal tasks.
