Jovita Narag – Administrative Assistant
Hi, I’m Jovita!
I grew up selling meat and vegetables with my mum. We have a small store and we call it “talipapa” here in our place. At a very young age, I was taught how to buy and look for the best suppliers for our store. I learned how to negotiate wisely with the suppliers and how to handle our business. I must say, growing up with my parents gave me so much experience and knowledge on how to become an independent person.
During my college days, I was chosen by our university to take on-the-job training in Singapore where I was a management trainee. Staying there for a year molded me to become a competent and strong person. In December 2011, I returned to our country to finish my degree and successfully obtained a degree in Business Administration major in Financial Management in April 2013.
I landed a job a few months after my graduation as an Administrative Aide. I was trained to work on administrative tasks such as email management, calendar management, and doing affidavits. Working with them for more than a year gave me a better opportunity to improve my life and that created the opportunity of working with FCI Citimal where I was an Administrative Officer of the company. The company I worked with has multiple businesses including Hotel, Restaurants, Mall and EENT (Ear, Eyes, Nose, and Throat) Clinic.
Being an Administrative Officer, serving 3 bosses really required me to be good with multitasking, decision-making, and problem-solving. I helped the company in operational and administrative functions like contacting mall rentals, contacting suppliers for the restaurant, sending emails for the clients’ inquiries, tracking invoices, and paying mandatory contributions for the company. I was assigned to process and issue Payroll on either cash or bank deposit which required me to have a keen eye for details. In terms of client-facing, I am also given the task to come up with an elevation to contribute to the success of the company, understanding the client’s needs, and help solve problems. Oftentimes, I deal with different types of personalities that improved my interpersonal skills.
The company helped me to become a better person and I was happily working with them, but when I decided to take my Master’s Degree, there was a conflict between the working schedules and my studies. I chose to pursue my studies and put up my small business to sustain my needs for my studies. In 2020, when the pandemic hit the economy, my business became unprofitable so I had to look for another opportunity and that is to work online.
I enrolled myself in an online course to be an effective Virtual Assistant. I met my coach, Grace. She helped me a lot to gain more knowledge in Virtual Assistant tasks such as data entry, email management, calendar management, online research, lead generation, social media management and marketing, and basic photo editing.
In terms of my technical skills, I am familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and the complete Google Suite including, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Calendar. I also know how to work with Trello, Evernote, Skype, and Zoom, and I can do a basic graphic design using Canva.
With my skills and knowledge, I am confident that I can work under minimal supervision. I am a quick learner, highly-organised, and I am trained to move fast to meet my deadlines. I have the ability to problem-solve and ask questions, if needed. I want to improve my quality of life by working hard and staying in long-term employment. Having a passion for my job is one thing I can contribute to my employer. I can assure you that I am a hard-working, reliable, and trustworthy person who understands how important work is. I take my work very seriously and I am always looking to improve my skills and qualifications so I can work to the highest standard possible in my role.
As for my hobbies outside of work, I enjoy browsing the internet, shopping online, reading, playing badminton, traveling, and exploring different places and cultures to try their delicacies.
