Joanne Realin – Administrative Assistant
Hi, my name is Joanne C. Realin. I am a mother of three beautiful kids and is married since June 2018. I started working at the age of 21. i had to quit school since my parents could no longer sustain my college education. I worked as an Admin Assistant for a local cable service provider in our town for 2 years.
After that, I tried to work in a different place and landed a job in the BPO industry. It was really an accident that time because I didn’t know that what I applied for is a BPO company as the position is called Customer Service Representative. I was not really confident of my communication skills before but because of this job, I gained confidence in speaking the language and I also learned the art of multi tasking. Taking notes as fast as you can while talking to customers and making sure you really understood them. I have developed a lot of patience in this kind of job and to date, people say that I am always polite. I enjoyed working in the BPO until I got married in 2018 and got pregnant.
In the latter months of 2018, I have seen a lot of posts in Facebook about remote work so I talked to my husband and asked for his permission if I can give up working in the corporate world and try working from home.
Fast forward to October 2019, 3 months after I gave birth to my son, I decided to resign and ventured into remote work. It was not easy at first, but through out the years, I have been exposed to different tasks such as data entry, social media management, data base management, email management, file organization, CRM management, project coordination, and other admin tasks.
Working in a remote set-up made me more accountable on all the work I do and has really help me grow in my professional career. I wouldn’t want to trade this opportunity with a greater offer in the corporate world for many reasons.
I want to learn more and explore other skills and I know I will be able to achieve and do more as remote worker.
