Joana Marie Abastillas – CSR and Administrative Support
Hi there, my name is Joana Marie Abastillas, but most of my friends call me “Jam”.
I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing Batch 2010 from the University of Baguio. At first I thought it was my passion to be a Nurse someday, but as time goes by I find it very hard to achieve, as it requires one to make a substantial financial and time investments, and practically speaking – I don’t think it’s meant for me. But still I am thankful as I am still utilising my skills and knowledge in that area in personal scenarios.
At the age of 9 my parents separated, and my siblings and I were left with my grandparents. I stopped studying for 2 years when I was in high school because of the influence of my friends and lack of guidance that time. Good thing that my aunt was there and she took me to her home and asked me to continue my studies until I graduated from College.
I have a lot of job experience since graduating from College – most of them is Sales and Customer Service Support. When I had my first child I found it difficult for me to work in an office based environment because I had no one to take care of him as my husband was also working overseas. So I needed to make a decision to stay at home and take care of my son full time.
I can say that it was the best decision I ever made because I was able to find a Job at home. From then it became easier for me to earn and help my husband with our finances, while at the same time allowing me to take care of my son.
I’ve been deeply involved as a General Virtual Assistant with Lead Support for more than 4 years now and been able to work with clients globally. It was a very great experience because I have gained a lot of skills which I can definitely utilise to advance my career.
I have the determination to excel in everything I do and I love challenges!
Aside from working at home I also like to travel and make sure that I still enjoy the outside world. This helps to keep me motivated and productive at work.
Thank you and have a great rest of your day!
