Jhoenna Marie Pagaduan – General Virtual Assistant
Hi, I’m Jhoenna Marie Pagaduan, you can call me Jhoey, Jho, or J. I’m a wife and mother of 2 boys. Due to our previous financial situation, I wasn’t able to finish my studies. I’m an undergraduate, but that didn’t stop me from building my career. I focused on gaining knowledge and upgrade my skills.
A few years back, I would not have thought of myself having a work from home career. This is because I have tried a lot of times and have been scammed by different clients, not paying me for month’s worth of work. But when I tried for the last time, last streak of hope, that’s the time that I landed a legit client who paid me for working part time. As I work with different clients, I get to learn something new and it became enjoyable. That was when I decided that I will build my career as a Virtual Assistant.
I started as a Student Assistant in the university where I studied, performing admin related tasks as well as preparing and delivering orders for the different departments. I then moved to the chemical laboratory where I was preparing formulations for nursing and engineering students.
When the financial situation hit our family, and my mom can only provide financial aid to one child, I told her that it’s better for her to help my brother since he’s still in high school. I told my mom that I will just try to continue being a working student and provide for my studies. It was really hard and I wasn’t able to continue due to different factors. I eventually had to give up studying and work full time. I applied to jobs secretly a few months before I turned 18. I’d say I’m lucky because some people gave me a shot even for just a month of work.
I tried to gain experience as I work my way through the corporate world. However, as I work on different offices, I saw that working in that kind of environment often does me bad than good because of the negative traits that some people have, most especially crab mentality. When I saw the opportunity of having online work, I tried to learn more about it and the work environment. I tried applying to more jobs online. After gaining positive experiences, I came to love the opportunity of working with foreign clients. I saved up money to buy my own desktop computer, which eventually gave me the chance to work from home. The rest is history.
Throughout my years of working from home, I got the chance to work with clients from different parts of the globe like Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, United States, Singapore, France, Ireland, and more. I love this kind of experience. Not only do I get to work with foreign clients, I also get to learn different personalities and different culture. In this kind of career, I always use the ability to adapt quickly to different systems and software, the attention to detail, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities that I have practiced , as well as being a good Virtual Assistant for the client. I believe that by being a good person, you also receive something good in return.
I always strive to improve my skills. I believe that learning is a continuous process and by learning more, I would be able to provide better services and be of help for the clients I get to work with. In return, I will have a stable career, be able to provide for my family, and give thanks to God. Whatever opportunity comes next, I know that I will have something new to learn that will equip me as I build my online career and as I develop into becoming a better person.
