Jemima Matute – Executive Administrative Assistant
Hi, I’m Jemima, but you can just call me Jem.
I started working when I was in my 3rd year in college as I needed some extra cash to help me with my studies. I worked as a recruitment assistant in one of the BPO companies here in Davao City. I worked during the day and went to school at night; this became my initial training ground.
However, since I was only a temporary employee, my contract eventually ended, and the only way I could get absorbed as a permanent recruitment staff as if I had experience working on the production floor. Since I was determined to be a part of recruitment, I agreed. Unfortunately, I didn’t survive the life of being an agent as the workplace during that time was a bit toxic and unhealthy, which resulted in me quitting my job.
Just months after, I found out I was pregnant. I knew then that I needed to look for a more stable job. Aside from being the eldest, I also needed to provide for my little one. I tried several home-based stints from becoming a telemarketer to an online English tutor until I landed my first Virtual Assistant role.
Given my lack of experience, I underwent intensive trainings, especially with the US Real Estate industry. Working in that industry for around 5 years taught me how to work productively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. It taught me commitment, resilience, and I have grown my love for the job.
As I desire to grow my skills and knowledge, I decided to apply for jobs that are outside my comfort zone. I landed a job in the financial industry which honed my skills in taking care of the backend side of the business from admin tasks, bookkeeping, to the day-to-day operation, social media, and other tasks that I can take off my client’s shoulders so they can focus on growing their business.
Currently, I am a mom of two beautiful kids who gives me more reason to be better every day. Outside of work I love seeking adventures whether it be outdoors with nature or in the kitchen at home. 😊 I also enjoy working out as a way to release my stress and gain what I call “my happy hormones”. Being a homemaker has also made a big impact on the values and beliefs that I uphold.
With these at hand, I believe that I can be an asset to your team and your organization.
I look forward to being able to work and grow with you!
