Jayzel Anne Carbonell – Administrative Assistant, Telesales

jayzel-carbonell-vaHi! I am Jayzel Anne Carbonell, but you can call me Jayzel. I am 34 years old, a housewife and a mother of two kids. I graduated from a two-year course as a Computer Secretarial in Datacom Institute of Computer Technology in Cavite in April 2013.

I started my first job as a Recorder at Park Apparel Inc. in EPZA, Cavite, in May 2013. My job was not only to record the daily output, inventories of sales and deliveries, and data encoding, but it also included email and phone management, the production’s daily attendance, and making sure that they met the daily quota because I served as the production manager’s secretary. But it only lasted for about 3 months because the company went out of business. My next job was being a cashier at a supermarket in Cavite. After that, I applied as a Data Processor at Southbend Management Services Inc. in Makati. It is an outsourcing company, and my job is sorting and filing of documents and receipts and encoding them into the company’s website. After I finished my contract, I went to my hometown, Nueva Ecija, for a personal matter. My last job experience was being a Telesales Representative from July to October 2017, wherein we called our potential clients, sold them our products, and gathered their data upon purchasing. But I had to stop a few months later due to my high-risk pregnancy, and I decided to become a stay-at-home mom to take care of my children afterward.

jayzel-carbonell-vaEven if I am at home, I have my side hustle as an online seller; this is where I applied the skills that I learned from being a Cashier and Telesales Representative. But now that my kids are of age, after seven years of being a stay-at-home mother, I want to pursue my career again and fulfil my what-ifs. I wanted to grow in my career and learn more skills. I wanted to work and at the same time look after my children because time is one of the important factors I can give them. So, I am taking my chances as a virtual assistant.

Applying as a virtual assistant is not easy, especially since I have no experience or idea about this at first. I am researching and attending seminars and tutorials to be able to understand the VA world. I am focusing on developing key skills such as time management and communication, which I think are essential to be able to succeed in this position. My commitment to continuously learning has equipped me with the knowledge and confidence to excel as a virtual assistant.
