Jayson Parayno – Customer Service Representative

jayson-parayno-vaHi! I am Jayson and here is my story. I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Social Work and a unit earner of Bachelor in Secondary Education major in Social Studies.

I grew up with my grandmother since my mother went abroad when I was 8 months old. My grandmother taught me how to handle household chores and I should finish it all so that she would not get angry. I was disciplined to obey my grandmother at all times. When I was in high school, I went to our province to help my grandparents work in the rice fields. We started at 5am to feed our farm animals such as pigs, chickens, ducks, and cows. Then we took a short break with just a cup of coffee and a piece of bread and started working in the rice fields from 7:00am to 5:00pm. The heat of the sun burned my skin but I did not mind the pain because helping my grandparents on their farm also provided me with my needs at school, especially my tuition fees.

After I graduated from high school, I took up Bachelors in Elementary Education for only 1 year due to lack of money. That’s when I decided to stop my studies and start working as a Gasoline Station Attendant to provide for my basic needs. After a month, I switched jobs and worked as a service crew in a fast-food company for six months. My mother decided to take me home to finish my studies so I could have a better future. To not burden my mother, I did my best to save up the remittances she sent me. But since it wasn’t enough, I worked as a part-time chat moderator to help me add up my allowance and pay for my school projects.

jayson-parayno-vaIn March 2018, I earned my degree in Social Work. During that time, it was difficult to find a job, so I started in the BPO industry as a non-voice call center agent at Aurum for two months and five months in E-Precision. Because of what my grandparents taught me and what I have learned when I worked my part-time jobs, I have been trained to be patient, flexible, calm, and very professional in dealing with vulgar and impatient clients.

I was then offered a job to work as a Dorm Manager in Philippine Science High School. This job requires me to have more patience since troubles arise every week since students can be naughty and stubborn, and I must provide solutions to problems and issues immediately.

I have acquired the skill to be more reliable, analytical, innovative, creative, initiative and can adapt to any problems that will take place, and I have become resilient to reassess whenever my first idea or solution to the problem doesn’t work. I also accomplished reports after each incident and a weekly report to be submitted to our Division Chief regarding what we did.

Due to the pandemic, most of us lost our sources of income but I did not give up and still tried my chances in applying for a job. After 3 months, I grabbed the opportunity to be an enumerator at the Philippine Statistics Authority where we were assigned in any barangay in Baguio. I have considered this to be the toughest work I dealt with since I needed to mingle with the public well. Associating with different types of people can be challenging, they can be hot-tempered and sometimes unwelcoming however I have managed to deal with them tactfully. At the end of each day, we collected data from each family during the census and we need to edit and summarised all the information we have written.

I sincerely love to bring all of the attributes I have acquired to the organisation I am applying for.
