Janet Canlapan – Appointment Setter
To start my introduction, my name is Janet Canlapan but you can call me Lai or just Janet.
I recently resigned from my previous company to start my career as a Virtual Assistant. I decided to do a home-based job because I have a son who was diagnosed with ASD or Autism Spectrum Disorder. I want to be at home to take care of him, along with my 3 girls, while still earning at the same time. My husband is an OFW in Saudi. I take care of our children with the help of my mum who is always there to look after my kids when I’m not around.
I’ve been working in the BPO industry since 2015. I’ve handled different roles and campaigns from technical support to customer service to appointment setter. I do troubleshooting computers and printers over the phone or through remote access. I also do inbound and outbound calls, offering new products to customers.
Before I started my career in a BPO, I used to be a part-time real estate agent. I assisted buyers in finding the perfect home for them depending on their needs and budget.
In preparation for my VA career, I did a lot of research, self-study, and online training. I realised that there are a lot of skills that you can learn from working online. I’m willing to learn and grow in this path that I am choosing. For me, home-based work is an ideal job for a mother like me so that I can take care of my kids and have a healthy work-life balance.
I like listening to music and cycling. These are my means of relaxation and as a mum, you need to have that time in your life to recharge yourself to regain energy and strength to continue doing what you love and to serve others and your loved ones.
I always believe that “Honesty is the best policy” and I always carry this principle with me wherever I go.
