Jack Lozada – Customer Service Representative, Lead Generation
Hello! I’m Jack.
I am a college undergraduate with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. One of the reasons why I haven’t finished my studies is because of financial struggles. I am an only child. My father left me with my mother, so I’m living with my mother alone. I needed to prioritise work so we can have food on the table. That taught me to be responsible and determined. To dream and have a goal and pursue.
Since that happened, I started to look for jobs and landed in the BPO industry. At first, I thought that it would be so hard for me because I don’t have any experience yet. Fortunately, there is a company who accepts first timers and conducts training for us. This experience enhanced my English communication skills.
Working in the BPO industry, specifically in sales, is quite challenging. There is a quota that you need to reach weekly. It trained me to be disciplined and detail-oriented. It taught me to think, to have a strategy, and produce well meaning results. Working in this industry is not as easy as some other people think. You are indeed sitting and facing only a computer but it is more than that. You need to have the ability to adapt and be skillful to provide what the company and/or clients need for you to do.
Having the experience working in BPO enhanced not just my English skills but also my skills in customer service, sales marketing, and flexibility because you will encounter tasks that you have not yet experienced. When I was already working in another company, I was able to share the learning and skills I’ve acquired. I also discovered and learned new skills and unlocked new potentials.
My previous job was as a Lead Generation Specialist and my responsibilities are to look for leads or prospects on LinkedIn and other social media. It also required me to do emails, encode and organise in spreadsheets, moderate Facebook, and other tasks that clients wanted me to work on. The job needs you to be detail-oriented and responsible in order for you to work on the tasks with excellence. It may be challenging sometimes because you encounter tasks you have not yet experienced but it will teach you to think critically and make use of all of the resources you have. It will help you enhance your skills and grow as a person.
Now if there is one thing I learned and love in this industry that is LEARNING. For me, learning is constant. You may have a lot of experiences already but it should not stop there. The goal is not to be stagnant for what you already know. But to enhance and discover new things. Life has so much to offer. I will continue to be submissive and be hungry for learning and be purposeful.
“The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without purpose.” – Myles Munroe
