Iris Bea Ramos – General Virtual Assistant

iris-bea-ramos-vaHello, I’m Iris Bea Ramos, but you can call me Bee. I’m a mother of two, currently living in Cebu, Philippines. I initially wanted to study Psychology, but my parents had other plans for me. So, I started my college journey with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, later switching to Management Accounting in my third year. Unfortunately, I had to pause my studies so that I could work and provide for my family, but I still plan to finish my degree when the time is right.

From 2015 to 2022, I worked as a call center agent, starting as a technical support representative, then transitioning to healthcare executive, and later to medical billing specialist. Throughout these roles, I provided customer service and handled a variety of calls. I then shifted into content writing, where I wrote in-depth articles offering dog owners accurate tips on dog care, health, nutrition, and training.

Last year, I became a general virtual assistant under an agency that provides legal services in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, the client I work with offers medical services, specifically in pain management, which is close to my heart because of my prior experience assisting patients while handling healthcare accounts. Currently, I make outbound calls to confirm appointments, send text reminders to clients, and communicate with case managers via email.

iris-bea-ramos-vaRecently, I enrolled in a course for real estate virtual assistants and plan to take a course in SEO analysis, given my basic background in SEO from my content writing experience. Additionally, I’m considering studying bookkeeping, thanks to my accounting background. While pursuing all these goals can be overwhelming, I’m committed to taking one step at a time.

I was drawn to freelancing because it allows me to work from the comfort of my home while being present for my children. Their childhood is a reflection of my parenthood journey, and I want to be there for every important moment.

I struggle with low self-esteem and am not very fluent in English, so public speaking and interviews terrify me. However, I’ve become adaptable and committed to continuous learning to excel in the dynamic world of remote work. It’s all about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone to realise your limitless potential.

I allow myself to be a beginner because new things can be intimidating, but that doesn’t mean we’re incapable of growth. True courage is maintaining effort despite setbacks and pushing yourself through fear. As the saying goes, mistakes are better than missed takes.
