Honey May Paquiz – Virtual Assistant, Admin and Purchasing Assistant

Hi, I’m Honey May Paquiz. You can call me Honey. I am a wife and a mother of 3 children. I graduated with a degree in Business Management from Sta. Isabel College-Manila. I started working in 1998 as a Human Resource Assistant, then eventually assigned also to work as an Admin Assistant at the same company. As An HR Assistant, I do the screening of applicants’ resumes, give them exams and prepare them for initial interviews. When they have already passed the initial and final interview, I also help them in their onboarding.

Being an admin assistant, I do daily checking with our building assigned admins, get their daily reports from their assigned areas, consolidate them and report them directly to the admin manager. I also handled the facilities and maintenance support group, wherein that group is assigned individually to our own buildings in different locations.

Then November 2009, they transferred me to one of their companies, a food manufacturing business, where I also worked as an admin assistant and purchasing officer. As a purchasing officer, I do all the purchases needed by our production team. I am also the one talking to the suppliers regarding their product offers. Alongside with my purchasing, I also did basic bookkeeping and payroll matters for that company until the pandemic started when we were required to work from home.

With that, I realised that I wanted to shift to permanent remote work because with what I did during the pandemic, I have managed it well without the hassle of reporting to work physically. After that, I enrolled in virtual assistance training, joined webinars and watched videos and did a self-study of being a virtual assistant. I’m sure it will not be hard for me to adapt to remote work because I am also tech-savvy. I love learning new things, especially on new technologies. I am always willing to learn especially if it will help the company’s growth.

Working at home is very different from being in an office, I would be very grateful if ever I’d be given a chance for this position because I realised that this environment will be best for me and my family. I also would like to have a work-life balance.
