Emelito Narvaez, Jr. – Timekeeper, Ship Crew

Hi, my name is Emelito, but most of my friends call me Tolits. Honestly, I don’t have any experience working online as a virtual assistant, but I know that I can be one and I know that I can do this. I want to share a little bit about myself with you.

I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Right after graduation, I didn’t want to waste time. I wanted to look for a job as soon as possible. I know most people want to take a little break before feeding themselves to the sharks. Luckily, I have an uncle who was a manager of a golf and country club in Cavite and asked me if I want to work as a food and beverage server. That was the time I started my career in the Hospitality Industry.

2013, I decided to apply on a cruise ship since it was very in demand at that time. Because of my experience in hotels and restaurants, I got hired immediately. That was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I was given the chance to travel the world for free while earning. I’ve been in the Shipping Industry for more than 3 years now working in the hotel department. In 2016, I decided to end my career with the cruise line because I wanted to spend more time to my family.

In 2017, I was thinking of going back to the shipping industry, but I didn’t want to leave my family again for a long period of time. One of my aunts asked me if I wanted to try to work for her. She is an architect and owns a design and build company. She asked me if I wanted to work for her as a timekeeper and without hesitation, I accepted even though I didn’t have any experience related to the job. The first week was hard for me because I was still in the stage of learning about the job.

I was the one who is responsible for the daily records of each project. Gathering all employee’s data and inventories of working tools and equipment was my responsibility. I also made daily reports on what has been done on every house project. I always give my full attention and focus on my work to give the company excellent information and data records. These things are not what I usually do in the Hospitality Industry. I like this kind of challenge because it helps me to expand my knowledge on new things. Things that I don’t usually do. I am the kind of person that doesn’t want to stop learning. I can say that I am flexible and adaptable to change. Being focused and motivated gives me the ability to learn fast and I am always ready for something new.
