Dianne Mae Francisco – Customer Service Representative
Hi, my name is Dianne, and here’s my short story.
Being a college undergraduate and being 18, I thought it would be difficult for me to find a job. Thankfully, I was able to land my first job as a Customer Service Representative in one of the biggest BPO companies in the country. It was a life-changing moment as I was not ready to jump into the corporate world at a young age.
There were a lot of struggles to adjust to, especially that I was scheduled to work a night shift. The experience helped me gain most of the skills that I have right now. I actually cried during my first call as my first customer was angry and yelling at me regarding a billing issue. After that, I thought I wouldn’t be able to last long in this industry, but I was wrong. I managed to continue working in the BPO Industry for almost 4 years. I have handled a lot of accounts but mostly Telco, which caters to customer’s account, billing issues and sometimes we also upsell our entertainment products.
In 2017, I decided to be independent and moved to Baguio and found a job in the BPO Industry again. I worked as a CSR in Macy’s, a famous shopping mall, and eBay which is an online shopping site. I also tried working as a reservations specialist in one of the famous hotel companies.
In 2019, I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere so I decided to shift my career and just stayed home to work as a virtual assistant, but I guess that time was not the perfect time to have one. When the pandemic came, I found a job as a Chat specialist and even though the pay is little, I decided to accept it. I tried looking for a home-based job as a Virtual Assistant for at least a year and then luckily, one of my previous colleagues messaged me saying they were looking for a VA. I tried applying and I got in.
My first day was nerve-racking as I didn’t know what to expect or do since it was my first time in this kind of job. I am so thankful for all the hardships I experienced in the BPO Industry as it helped me learn all the skills I have now that helped me excel in this job that I have now.
I am working as a Virtual Assistant handling emails for customer service, scheduling with clients, training tutors as well as working on their salaries. This job trained me to work with minimal supervision. I am confident now that I will be able to use all of those experiences that I have in looking for a new job and opportunity.
Thank you!
