Christine Mae Dela Cruz – Store Manager, Sales Associate

Hi, I’m Christine Mae Dela Cruz but you can call me Yna. A lovable daughter to my parents and my siblings. Graduated with the course of Office Management and Technology major in Legal Office Management at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

After I finished college, I started working as a Sales Associate in a Consulting Company here in the Philippines dealing with clients, accounts, sales, filing, and paperwork that’s my everyday routine but I resigned due to tiredness from travelling because it takes 2 hours for me to get there to the office. My second job is being a Data Encoder/ Warehouse Checker since it’s a cold storage warehouse, I always get sick. So, I decided to quit again and now I’m a Store Manager.

One day I was scrolling through my social media account and saw a post where they said that working from home is a good opportunity where you can have a work-life balance. I got so invested about the benefits or positive factors of being a home-based worker, for us the commuters yes it’s very helpful. I’ve searched a lot on how to be a virtual assistant or how to apply for a remote setting job.

After that my grandmother got sick and I won’t be able to work far from them. I decided to try applying online. I know that there are full of unknown factors involved but I took the leap and chose to work home-based. And hopefully next day I will get hired or have a client to sustain our needs.

Applying for a job here in the Philippines is quite hard because here, they only accept the one who has an experience or has a backer but how about me? how about the fresh graduate students? So there’s continuous unemployment because of that kind of scheme. Here in our country, many people choose to leave and take the opportunity abroad. I am one of them. I want to work abroad but now I am the only one who looks after my younger siblings and grandmother. I can’t afford to work abroad and leave them behind and I think this is the least I can do to help and to take care of them while I’m working and giving them their needs and wants.

I also want to be a Virtual Assistant because here traveling is more tiring than working. And I know if I become a virtual assistant, I don’t need to leave my grandmother and siblings. I aim that sooner I’m able to use this platform to show up my skills while earning money and giving the best life that my family deserves.
