Charmaine Justalero – Customer Service Representative, ESL
My name is Charmaine Justalero but my friends call me “Charm” or “Maine”. I love to watch English movies, read books, cooking, and play some sports such as badminton, volleyball, dart, and chess.
I started working in the BPO Industry after I finished my studies. For 3 years, I have worked as an Appointment Setter/Outbound Sales Representative, Flight Specialist for Sales and Customer Service, Account Associate, and Customer Service Representative. Working in the BPO gave me a lot of knowledge, skills and fun experiences. I also learned a lot about the American culture. It may not be an easy job but this job gave me a lot of wonderful experiences in life, and one of those is meeting my husband. Who would have thought I would find true love in this industry?
After 3 years, I decided to work at home as an Online English Teacher. Being a teacher is not an easy job especially on an online platform. You have to be patient and passionate about what you are doing. The pay is also awesome and the schedule is flexible, and that’s why I took the opportunity.
My best friend introduced me to the VA world. At first, I thought it’s complicated, but then I realised it’s easier for me since I’ve been working in the BPO industry. I worked as a VA and Social Media Marketing. I accepted multiple offers and enjoyed every task that my client gave me.
Apart from working at home, my husband and I put up our own food business. Our business is doing well but I didn’t stop working as a VA because I enjoy it so much. I love making new friends and getting to know my clients. They tell me great stories about how life is in the US and they treat me like their family, not just an employee.
When the pandemic hit, my clients lost their business and it was pretty heartbreaking because they had to let me go. It was a challenging year for me because I lost my job and our business went downhill, but I never stop losing hope. I know everything will be okay and this will not last forever. I believe that everything happens for a reason and we shouldn’t give up. There are a lot of things I should be thankful for in life and I’ll never stop achieving my dreams.
