Cecille De Ramos – Administrative Assistant, ESL

Hello, I am Cecille Grace De Ramos, 31 years old. You can call me “Cecille” and here is my life story.

I am the 8th daughter of my parents, I have 7 sisters and only one brother. We grew up in a province that is far away from the city and farming was the only source of our income. All of us had to work hard every day for us to eat food three times a day. It was so hard since most of us are girls. We experienced plowing the soil using a carabao and a horse for the transportation of crops.

As a result of poverty, I dreamed of finishing my studies and finding a job. After I graduated from my secondary education, I didn’t go to college yet. I applied as a maid to help my parents in providing allowances for my two sisters who are in college. After a year, I proceeded to college to reach my goals in life.

“Your positive action combined with positive thinking results in success”, one of the authors said. It wasn’t easy being in college. In fact, there are a lot of things to accomplish, but still, I focused on my dreams with a positive mind, courage, and perseverance. Thankfully, I finished my Bachelor’s degree in Education and passed the Licensure Examination for teachers, and acquired my work in a private school for 5 years. I am so glad because I can help my parents in a small way.

I am now a part of a non-government organization wherein our goal is to help the people who are called the poorest of the poor. We offered them sustainable livelihood and tutored children and young learners in the community. Information about technology was necessary for the community. We are teaching Photoshop editing, MS Word, and Excel as well as MS PowerPoint at least once a week. Because of financial support instability, I decided to work on an ESL online teaching part-time to continue helping them. However, since the pandemic, my bookings were low because there are a lot of people applying for online teaching.

One of my friends shared about being a virtual assistant and its work. What I did is, research and watch informational video training about VA. I am self-motivated, hardworking, and teachable. I believe that through my experiences in life, I grow and develop those skills that are needed to perform the duties and responsibilities as a worker. I will do my very best to be productive to customers and my teammates in the future.
