Brooke Anne Parker – Business Management and Administrative Assistant
Hello! My name is Brooke. I am a Mum, a lover of a good wine and cheese, a horse race meet fanatic and a determined individual with a healthy passion for personal growth, and a strong love of the agricultural industry.
I was born and raised in a rural country town in Central Queensland, Australia, where I attended a small Catholic Primary School and later graduated from the local high school, graduating with good marks and a Certificate II in Business.
From my childhood, and from my parents, I gained a healthy work ethic and a fierce passion for learning, and a love for the agricultural industry – my father’s family having a background in peanut farming and my mother’s family a background in beef cattle.
Upon graduating high school, I was able to secure a twelve-month traineeship through the Department of Primary Industries and I successfully completed a Certificate II in Agriculture, specialising in Beef Cattle Production. My days were spent fencing, assisting in various Government trials, the day to day operations of a feedlot and general administration duties, and best of all – surrounded by my favourite four legged creatures. It soon became obvious that this was my “happy place”. Through my passion for agriculture came the chance to become a Sales Representative in a local John Deere dealership – a fiercely competitive industry, but one that I was determined to thrive within and make my mark.
Life soon saw me having to put my career goals on hold, relocate to the city, and raise my 4 beautiful children. I held various positions across payroll, finance, audit and administration whilst the children were young. I then went through a time of personal growth and it was during this time that I was able to actively reflect on where I wanted to be in life and where I wanted to focus my energy career-wise.
This led to the commencement of employment as an Executive Assistant and Head of Administration within a company who had strong agricultural foundations, as well as a base within the Hospitality sector. No two days were the same and I had soon mastered accounts payable and receivable, MYOB, data entry, sales and marketing, producing business documents for export, and assisting with the planning of various events. I was able to throw myself into the challenges and opportunities the business offered me. It was through this position and through the encouragement of my partner and children that I enrolled in an external Diploma of Agribusiness Management, through Rural Skills Queensland. I will graduate in August of 2019.
In 2018 an opportunity was presented for myself and my children to relocate to beautiful South East Queensland which enabled us to be closer to opportunities within the industry and to allow my children to experience the country lifestyle, where we now live on 7 acres on the outskirts of Toowoomba, Queensland with my partner, our horse, Rusty and snag baby, Abby – life has never been better.
I am a self-taught Virtual Assistant with a strong skill set which I am continuously growing and developing. Being a Virtual Assistant provides me with the freedom to remain employed but also be able to support my young family’s growth and to inspire people like myself to realise and seize their dreams!
