Brian Nyong – Virtual Assistant, Project Manager
Hi, I’m Brian. I hold a degree in Maritime Transport and Business Management, and I’ve also completed my MBA. My journey has been shaped by my family, friends, people I’ve had the opportunity to come across, education and work experiences, which have brought me to where I am today as a Virtual Assistant. I’m also looking forward to exploring new areas, like breaking into the Human Resources (HR) field, and also pursuing a long-term dream of owning a large farm one day.
Family is a central part of my life. Spending time with them brings me so much joy, and they are the foundation that keeps me grounded. From my parents, who have always been a guiding influence, to my siblings and extended family, including my nieces and nephews, they provide constant love and support. Gathering for family dinners, spending time together and just catching up over a call reminds me of the importance of having strong connections with the people who matter most. I’ve learned a lot from my family and my friends about the values of patience, kindness, trust, honesty and resilience, and I carry those lessons with me in everything I do.
In addition to my love for family, I also enjoy reading and learning. I’m always looking for new ideas, particularly those related to business and personal development. I believe in continuous improvement, and I try as much as possible to apply that mindset in both my professional and personal life. From learning how to be more efficient at work and finding better ways to balance life, I believe there’s always room to grow.
I didn’t originally plan to become a Virtual Assistant. My journey started from a deep interest in helping people stay organised and manage their tasks more effectively. With a background in project management and customer service, I found that I really enjoy supporting others and making their lives easier. I’ve worked in various roles where I handled administrative tasks, managed schedules, and organised projects. Those experiences taught me the importance of effective communication and paying attention to detail, especially when trying to keep everything running smoothly.
One of the most rewarding roles I had was working with a foundation that focused on community outreach. I helped organise health programs and oversaw the production of school uniforms, free haircuts, and provision of back-to-school materials for children. The impact that this work had on the community was incredibly fulfilling, and it strengthened my belief in the power of well-executed projects. The skills I gained there—like planning, managing people, and coordinating multiple tasks—are ones I use every day in my current role as a Virtual Assistant.
When I became a Virtual Assistant, my role involved helping with tasks like scheduling meetings, organising documents, and managing emails. I discovered how much I enjoyed streamlining processes and making things run more smoothly. Over time, I learned to adjust my approach based on what was needed, and I found satisfaction in providing practical support that helped get things done efficiently.
As a Virtual Assistant, my daily tasks can vary widely. I might spend a day organising files and preparing presentations, while on another day, I could be managing schedules or handling emails. This variety keeps my work engaging and allows me to continually learn and adapt. I appreciate the different challenges each task brings, which helps me stay motivated and effective.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about the possibility of breaking into the Human Resources field. HR interests me because it’s focused on helping people and improving business operations, two things I’m passionate about. I know this will be a new challenge, but I’m eager to apply the skills I’ve learned throughout my career to this new field.
I’m happy about my journey so far and I’m looking forward to the future. With the support of my family, and friends and my drive to keep learning, I’m confident that the future holds great things.
