Adetunji Ilori – Administrative Assistant, IT Support Engineer
Hi! I’m Adetunji Ilori, you can call me TJ
I am a graduate of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria. Upon graduation, under the National Youth Service scheme, I worked for a year as a Fire and Security Engineer in an extra-low voltage firm, where I; Performed AutoCAD designs of extra-low voltage systems installation such as CCTV, fire alarm systems, electric fence, access control systems, sprinkler systems, including solar systems; Conducted a survey of proposed job sites to determine area conditions, materials and equipment required; Carried out surveys, designs, installations, services and maintenance of projects within the area of the company’s core business (Electronic security, solar power, and telecommunication systems); Determined project cost, project schedule by studying project plan, specifications; calculating time requirements and sequencing project elements. This job developed my technical skills, decision-making skills, and project management skills.
After my contract ended in the firm, I moved back to my initial residing state and started searching for a job, then after 4 months, I got hired to work as a production engineer in the furniture and interior design industry, basically as a CNC machinist. During my stay there, I was responsible for; Setting-up and managing CNC machines to perform different jobs including drilling, grinding and milling; Translating engineering drawings and requirements into dimensions for production; Overseeing the machines while they execute the tasks, and making the necessary changes to produce improved results; Troubleshooting all processing problems, fixtures, tooling and machines; Mechanical and system control repairs on CNC machine. This job industrialized me.
After working as a CNC machinist for two years, I decided to resign because I wasn’t so fascinated with the job as it took too much of my time and consumed me so much, causing me frequent body aches, low salary, and irregular payments of salaries, coupled with the fact that I intended to change the field to Information Technology, focusing on cybersecurity and data science.
While I already decided to resign, I started to take professional courses in data science on the IBM platform, got certificates in data analysis, data visualization, and machine learning with python. Upon resignation, I continued to do personal learning on data science. Thereafter, I took professional training and certification in network security, therefore being certified as a network security specialist by International Cybersecurity Institute (ICSI), UK. Then I decided to start searching for jobs in cybersecurity, but unfortunately, it didn’t go well as there is very limited demand for the field in my country Nigeria. This has made me stay with no job for more than a year now as IT is the field I intend to continue with professionally irrespective.
In the course of being at home jobless, I was privileged to be contracted for an online cybersecurity technical support job twice and I did well within the timeframe I was given. I realized that I enjoyed doing this work from home at my own convenience, so I decided going the virtual assistant way would be what’s best for me. I am proficient in the following skills: usage of Microsoft office suites, Technical support, Network administration and security, Python, SQL database management, Data entry, analysis and visualization, AutoCAD design, Graphics design, and video editing. I’m very willing to learn more things and skills so I can meet all my clients’ requirements. Now that I understand my desired field and work mode, I cannot wait for the many opportunities and experiences that will come.
I position myself as an active person and interested in everything that I come across. I believe that as long as there is a need, there is always an opportunity, so I always ensure to do my utmost best to not disappoint people.
It is worth noting that the English language is the language of learning in my country at all education levels, and the English language is my first most means of communication.
I hope that you will give me a chance to be on your team.
Thank you so much.
