AJ Dashiel Avila – Senior Video Editor
I’m AJ Dashiel Avila, and I am the youngest in my family (no superpowers here… yet!). I grew up in beautiful Quezon Province, Philippines, during which I spent most of my days aspiring to be a volleyball champion. This did not mean trying to outrun my older siblings; let’s just say I had a leg up on that!
I’m a graduate of Psychology. This degree developed my deeper understanding of human behaviour but also led to some very valuable lessons in empathy and communication. Being a working student for most of my college years was really important to me. I had part-time jobs while studying a mix of tutoring younger students to help out in local businesses. Juggling responsibilities taught me to manage time, discipline myself, and prioritise tasks; all essential requirements for the new virtual assistant adventure.
Now you might be thinking, why did I switch to becoming a virtual assistant? I actually was selling sisig, a popular local food, back in our province during the pandemic.
I was at once trying to cook, market, and provide customer service all at the same time, all while attempting to tread my own finances. It was pretty crazy, like a game of volleyball! But in this process, I learned how to adapt, listen to customer feedback, and evolve my method for survival.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I became independent as early as 16 years old, and from then I have lived alone; well, not so since I have a companion, my loyal and clingy dog, Onion. He is quite a character but keeps me company while working. Onion reminds me when to take a break; particularly when that break involves snack time, and he is my unofficial cheerleader, cheering whenever I complete something.
Closed-caption maker and video editor, with six years of experience so far in my professional life. I have learned to combine creativity with precision. I enjoy storytelling through the visual medium and believe every project has a narrative worth being said. Tools like Asana and Google Workspace are very efficient and make it easy for me to manage tasks. In addition to my activities at work, I play volleyball in organisations that support philanthropic causes. It is there that teamwork and dedication one displays on the court reveal work ethics and uphold the importance of teamwork.
So, if you’re looking for a virtual assistant who can keep things organised, connect with people, and add a bit of humour to your team, I’m your person! I’m excited to help bring your vision to life, all while learning both ways in this new path I’m taking sails on! Let’s work and make magic together!
