Regine Camille Ong – General Virtual Assistant

regine-ong-vaHi, I am Regine Camille Ong, Reg for short. I am a wife and a ‘Mama’ to two lovely boys. I graduated with a degree in Humanities with a Certification in Management from the University of Asia & the Pacific. I always dreamed of ‘making it big’ in the corporate world, so I took my studies seriously and made sure I was with an established company right off the bat. My 19-year-old university self never would have thought that I would take the work-from-home path.

Right off university, I worked in the Human Resources field. I was heavily involved in sourcing activities and employee engagement. Arranging both team and company-wide employee initiatives became my jam-I loved interacting with vendors and employees. After a few years,  I got married and started a family. I still managed to work full-time but it was when I gave birth to my second son that I decided to traverse into the uncharted waters of remote work.

Being a natural homebody, I got into the groove quite quickly. I built experience in customer support, drop shipping, client success, social media management, email management, and executive assistance. In my spare time, I self-taught myself to edit videos, effectively create material on Canva, learn Quickbooks, Notion and email campaign websites like Unlayer and Mailchimp. I realized that I learn fast and also became comfortable communicating with anyone within the company, working well individually or in a team.

regine-ong-vaOver the years, I have come to know that diligence, resilience, resourcefulness and keeping a sharp toolbox are necessary in being an outstanding Virtual Assistant. When you have a good attitude, know how to ask when needed, and demonstrate accountability in your role, you will be able to deliver above and beyond the demands of the tasks at hand.

It is very different when you work from home. While there are times that I think of what may have been if I stayed in the office, the thought of how the environment would be different for my kids weighs more. It is definitely still more fulfilling for me to be able to provide for our family from a watchful distance. My time is still the best I could give them.

My goal is always to improve on my craft and myself as a person so I can fulfill my roles at work and at home.
