Dan Denver Alejandria – General Virtual Assistant

dan-denver-alejandria-vaHi, my name is Dan Denver Alejandria, but everybody calls me Dan. I am single at the moment, but I do take care of my nephews and my pets. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Human Services from Father Saturnino Urios University, Philippines. Before I embarked on the possibility of working online, I did not imagine that there would be a time when I would asked myself if I would be doing the right thing, specifically transitioning from working in a local government unit into being a freelancer.

I worked as an admin assistant before in our city hall, where I did repetitive tasks such as data entry, clerical tasks, and even admin support. I worked for almost a year before I tried my luck by entering the bureau, where I tried my best to be part of the fire protectors, but unfortunately, I was not able to proceed to the next step of the process. Hence, I took a rest and reevaluated the things I had done. Two years ago, as the pandemic had struck the world and everybody else became isolated within their homes, most of the transactions had been done virtually. My freelancing journey started when my virtual friend from a game asked me if I needed some quick cash by assisting him through data entry work, which caught my attention.

As I embark on my journey as a freelancer, it opens my mind to the difference between the work culture in the US and the Philippines. It inspired me to make an effort in customising my profile and to upskill in order to be fit with the job description of every job that I encounter. I learned that skills can be learned, but a working attitude really makes a difference in how an employer will trust you with their business and to achieve a possible result.

dan-denver-alejandria-vaI realise working online is a real privilege, and it is too different from working onsite. I want to choose working online because, aside from being flexible and able to work freely from the comfort of my home, it gives me satisfaction to learn new things and to embrace uncertainty at work, which I find exciting.

I want to learn new things and transition my career growth to the next level, which I believe will have a huge impact on my future endeavors.
