Sarah Rentoza – Administrative Assistant

sarah-rentoza-vaHello!, I’m Sarah!

I’m currently in a state of shifting career – of becoming a Virtual Assistant. But I’m no longer a newbie in terms of my work history. I’ve been employed as an Admin Assistant / Project Coordinator in an Interior Design firm from my previous job. Doing day by day typical clerical works from email management, internet research, managing phone calls – being the first point contact person among suppliers, coworker, and clients, file keeping, timekeeper, assisting our Managing Director from time to time, travel and accommodation arrangements, act as a person in charge when the superior is out for a meeting or traveling abroad, managing the company’s social media by posting and updating. Part of it was to create content using images and captions. I do simple image editing using Photoshop. As a Project Coordinator, aside from coordination of information, work progress, and deadlines I prepare the tender of estimate for Bill of Quantity per project using software like AutoCad for more accurate measurements and numbers.

Before landing a job as an Admin abroad, I worked almost 5 yrs as an AutoCad designer in Manila. If you may wonder why? I took Architecture in college but due to circumstances, I didn’t finish the course and that made me an undergraduate, and yet I managed to take up a 1 yr program in Drafting Technology under Architecture at least to have the backbone and to land a job still related to my beloved course. This didn’t disappoint me. Having this certificate made me find jobs that are still with the same line of work.

sarah-rentoza-vaWorking as an AutoCAD designer was very tough, especially when doing transactions with Engineers or Architects to produce drawings with accurate measurements and numbers trained me to be keen on details. All data must be very exact from the start. I worked as an Autocad designer and Assistant to the Operation Head of the company. That experience taught me many things. I learned to juggle work from being technical to administrative tasks, to be a multi-tasker, to working under pressure, from being responsible for issuing drawings. I do Administrative work also with broad covered work responsibility assisting our superior from time to time, sometimes doing some customer service for back job orders, ocular visit in site, space planner for office, finding a supplier and built rapport to transact and to bargain also to get more deals for materials or items like furniture to be needed per project up to checking and approval up to their production date and delivery.

Having these experiences gave me confidence and pushed me to grow and explore more, to never stop learning. I’m enthusiastic and flexible. In my free time, I love watching tutorials on Youtube, attending webinars, and enrolling in online courses to study more in becoming a Virtual Assistant. Reading my story, you might feel that I’m in a career limbo but this journey is the start of me trying and discovering new things to be learned.

Thank you for reading my not so roller coaster story.
